Our quarries of Botticino Classico are open-pit operations typical of the area. In the production cycle, steps are excavated to create huge beds from which rectangular Botticino Classico blocks of suitable size are extracted . Diamond wire cutting machines are used, a technique that doesn’t damages either beds or Botticino Classico blocks.

Nowadays the Eredi Martinelli is one of few company that produce Botticino Classico marble blocks without the use of explosive. This is to preserve the quality of the stone, to improve production capability, to reduce waste, acoustic impact, dust and vibrations and at the same time to increase safety.

The higly skilled labour and professional management of the Botticino Classico quarries have turned the Botticino quarrying area into the second most important extractive area in Italy, with its annual production standing at 200.000 tons.
